I am striving to save money for a new laptop. But the thing is, I am underage and i don’t know what I can do to save up money.

Its simple, just make a budget and try to get some handyman jobs like washing cars or mowing the lawn for neighbors or family members. Do you have a laptop in mind? You have to check out the price and work out how long its going to take you to buy it. You are going to have to be patient, it might take you about six months to save up enough money to buy it, but when you finally do its going to be so much more exciting because you worked hard for it and earned it yourself.

can my boss fire me for refusing to do some electrical work, to save him some money?

can my boss fire me for refusing to do some electrical work, to save him some money so that he doesnt have to get a licensed electrician. he asks me to do it all the time with no extra pay. i myself am not licensed, but i kknow what im doing. i am going to ask him for an extra day of pay for doing it. if he doesnt give me the pay im not going to do it. the only reason he wants me to do it is to save him some money.

yes. he can fire you for almost anything unless it is deemed to be discrimination based upon race, sex, ethnicity, etc..

but stand firm. he will not fire a good employee for that. tell him you are glad to do it but you need paid. Ask for half what licensed electrician gets. Maybe $30/hour?

What is the best plan to save money for a car?

. I didnt realize how hard it is to save money. I am looking to buy a used car. Price range between $1400. How and what is the best laid out plan to make this happen?

(depending on yer income) u may need 2 lower yer standards on price range. i was able 2 buy a really nice car 4 way less than $1,000 @ the end of a college quarter w/ my refund $$$. if u find it hard 2 save, i’d certainly lower my standards considerably. u can usually get a good used car 4 a few hundred, that runs just fine; even bettern an expensive 1.
what i did 2 get a good car was put aside ALL non-essential bills that really don’t need immedi8 attn. i was determined 2 save that $$$ since i was needing a car. i knew the day was coming when i’d have 2 buy 1, & when that day came, i was pleased @ the new found freedom (i lived my whole life w/o a car). it IS possible 2 save if yer determined 2 do it. if u know in yer heart that u NEED car, then u pray 2 God about it, & it’ll happen IF u cut out ALL x-tras. u may or may not get the car u want, but u WILL get the 1 u NEED. i prayed about getting my 1’st car, & my prayer partner asked God on my behalf 4 the car i need 4 school. a friend of ours was willing 2 sell me their family van, & i was willing 2 look @ it, but had only a certain amt in savings. they went on vacation & my college quarter was 2 end in the 2 wks they were gone, & i just didn’t have the time 2 wait. it was either get a car sooner, or fail my class. (i was having 2 live by some 1 else’s schedule which cut me way short in the lab) & when i jumped @ the chance 2 get another car othern the 1 i was 2 c, it happened, & i was able 2 have my own schedule. i never bought the van i was supposed 2 c; there just wasn’t time 2 wait. it probably wasn’t meant 2 b. when my prayer partner prayed w/ me, we askt God 4 the car i NEED, & i soon after was blesst w/ a small car. 1 yr L8r, i was blesst w/ an even BETTER car 4 the same price i pd 4 the 1’st 1.

how can i save money when im in a tight budget and need to change my wardrobe?

every time i do save money and buy clothes, its like i have to buy more because its looks like i dont have new clothes.

You can save money by shopping the clearance racks and sale racks. Also pay attention to labels when washing your clothes in order to keep them looking new. Also buy pieces that you can mix and match until your wardrobe grows.

How much money will I have to save up on a 1BR NYC apartment, utilities, rent, stuff to live on? please help ?

How much money will I need to save for food and all above. What job do I need to maintain my first months rent and last months rent and my expensive apartment so I won’t end up out on the streets.

Depends on location. If you want to live on the island of Manhattan below 96th Street and want a one-bedroom, you should expect rents around $1800 – $2500 a month. You can find deals out there, my friend just found one for $1100 / month on the lower east side but there are always give and take situations. Another thing you have to understand is that in Manhattan it is hard to avoid a broker’s fee which you have to pay. that is about 12% of your annual rent. So on top of expensive rent, you must also pay a fee to the broker, an application fee, a credit check fee. then don’t forget you will probably need a mover or at least a van. Its very expensive here over all. But once you get here and you have a place you like and can afford, you’ll never want to leave. If you look outside Manhattan, you can find very good deals, generally $800-$1000 and is easier to avoid the broker fee. Basically, you will need to maintain a job of about $30-35K minimum to afford to live on your own here and that’s living very frugally. I would definitely suggest having at least half a years rent in savings before moving such a move.

Would it save money to divide family members onto two different car insurance companies instead of just one?

We are trying to reduce our monthly car insurance payment. There are 4 adults on the family policy. My 2 kids live at two different addresses. One is 22 and the other is 24. We have a 2000 SUV, a 2006 Saturn, 2001 Toyota Echo, and 1994 Ford Taurus. We want full coverage on all except the Taurus. Would it save to divide the family onto different 2 different policies from 2 different companies?

First of all you don’t insure drivers, you insure vehicles. The vehicle in one household can be driven by and will be covered for that vehicles insurance by any driver in that household who has a valid license. The insured vehicles are "assigned" to a specific address so you cannot insure a vehicle that has an address different form yours. Read below or better, call your agent to educate yourself on how this all works.

Insurance companies want to know about all licensed household members (it does not matter if they are young or old) so they can calculate their potential risks for having you and these drivers covered by your insurance policy. When you purchase liability insurance (which every auto insurance policy has), there is a law that < REQUIRES > insurance companies to cover all household members who have a drivers license. Most all insurance companies will require that you either add licensed household members to the policy or exclude them. This is because as household members it is assumed they have access to your vehicles and may drive them at any time. These drivers are thus a risk/rating factor to be taken into consideration.
Many state laws require it, and your policy contract has in it terms that say you must inform them of licensed drivers dwelling in your household, so that they can add him as a driver to your policy and rate accordingly or exclude him. Excluding anyone from your car insurance would mean that you are not paying extra on your policy to have him/her as a driver and thus they are not extended any coverage by your insurance policy if they were to drive your car and be in an accident, even if it were an emergency situation.
So most insurance companies will require you to place the non-relative household member on your insurance policy as a driver if he is licensed. All licensed household members are normally required to be listed as a driver or excluded on an auto insurance policy by the insurance provider.
If you have a licensed household member, whether a relative, roommate, etc, the insurer believes that the person will have access to your vehicle and thus is a rating factor that should be on your insurance policy. If the person really is not going to drive the insured vehicle then there should not be an issue with excluding them. Without you signing off on the exclusion the insurance company cannot really believe that a licensed household member may not drive your car.
State laws differ however. Typically, insurance companies are allowed to use classifications that reflect a possible exposure for liability on the part of the insurer, in the event that bodily injury or property damage occurs due to the operation of the vehicle by anyone in your household.
The perceived risk for non-household members by an insurance company is different and that is why you can normally let a friend that does not live with you borrow your vehicle without adding him or her to your policy.
A friend may occasionally borrow your car and be covered by your insurance because they do not have regular access to your car and thus are not rated as a risk factor on your policy. If you do have someone outside of the household that regularly drives your car then normally an insurance carrier usually would also want this person listed an occasional driver so they would be properly covered in an accident.
